Learn more about what happened in the family of one of the early United State's wealthiest Free Black men, Lewis Freeman of Pittsboro, NC. Laws hindered Lewis Freeman from passing along his status and wealth to his son. Five generations later, Harold P. Freeman tells how despite growing up in poverty, he capitalized on the riches of love his family afforded and helped reshape how the medical system works--especially for the poor--in the USA today.
